Data Warehousing

    ITBusiness has over the years developed a data warehousing approach based on industry "best" practices evolving from a combination of standards and principles mainly from Ralph Kimball and Bill Inmon. This approach is further supplemented and shaped by lessons learnt in implementing successful warehouses at numerous organisations.

    The focus is to "Deliver" where the provisioning of information inherently creates business insight possibilities that culminate in knowledge. The approach is not specific to a particular product, technology and platform agnostic, leveraging off iterative and overlapping implementation phases. The underlying objectives are to design a data warehouse that is optimized for performance, to economize on resources and to cater for most types of applications e.g. BI, MIS, EIS, standard reporting, general analytics, MDM, and data mining

    ITBusiness can assist with, and manage all implementation phases. We provide focused and expert assistance with specific phases of the implementation.

    Our services include:

    Readiness Assessment
    Review an organization's BI and/or data warehousing maturity and recommend the most appropriate implementation strategy (road-map).
    Business Discovery
    Determine the business requirements for a BI solution, as well as the available data sources that can possibly be used to satisfy these requirements. These requirements are then transcribed into technical system requirements.
    System Design
    Develop or refine the BI or data warehouse architecture (which includes the data and process designs). System Design must ensure that "best" practices are entrenched e.g. integration, data quality and MDM principles, use of dimensional models, considerations for CDC and data auditing.
    Develop, test and deploy all system components and objects as defined in the design specifications. It includes physical database and ETL process implementations with data loading and commissioning of the necessary operational procedures.
    Categories of training that we can provide are :
    a) General training i.e. concepts and fundamentals;
    b) Generic data and process design training;
    c) Product / tool specific training (database and ETL);
    d) Internships on specific products or ICT and BI disciplines.
    Ongoing maintenance of the BI and/or data warehouse system which entails execution and monitoring of all ETL, auditory and front-end processes, database management, scheduling, report /presentation management, error handling, resolution, change management and data management.
