Business intelligence projects have historically produced remarkable results for countless companies. Properly implemented, BI projects give business analysts and management access to timelier, more accurate information to enable them to make better decisions.
True business intelligence comes from the analytical search and reporting capabilities that are available to a company's business community as a result of the data rationalization and integration process that takes place during the construction of a BI system.
One of the critical success factors of a BI system is the ability of the user/decision-maker to access data and information easily and quickly. This is largely determined by the BI application that interfaces to the data warehouse. Although the technology might be able to deliver, the implementation thereof would determine whether this critical success factor would be met.
ITBusiness can assist with the implementation any BI application on most of the leading BI products. We have certified competency with products such as (and not limited to) MicroStrategy, Oracle, Hyperion, SAP, Cognos and Microsoft.
The BI implementation would be tailored based on the business requirements and in anticipation of future requirements.
ITBusiness can either assist with all phases of the implementation, or provide focused assistance with specific phases of the implementation.
Our services include:
Review an organization's BI and/or data warehousing maturity and recommend the most appropriate implementation strategy (road-map).
Determine the business requirements for a BI solution, as well as the available data sources that can possibly be used to satisfy these requirements. These requirements are then transcribed into technical system requirements.
Review existing implementations of data warehouses and BI systems and recommend enhancements (where applicable) that are aligned with industry standards and best practices. This includes assessments of the system architecture, implementation methodology, data and process designs, technical system configurations, performance factors and query/report design and configurations.
Develop or refine the BI or data warehouse architecture (which includes the data and process designs). System Design must ensure that "best" practices are entrenched e.g. integration, data quality and MDM principles, use of dimensional models, considerations for CDC and data auditing.
Develop, test and deploy all system components and objects as defined in the design specifications. It includes physical database and ETL process implementations with data loading and commissioning of the necessary operational procedures.
Categories of training that we can provide are :
a) General training i.e. concepts and fundamentals;
b) Generic data and process design training;
c) Product / tool specific training (database and ETL);
d) Internships on specific products or ICT and BI disciplines.
Manage the implementation phases and resourcing of a BI or data warehouse solution, either using ITBusiness or the client's SDLC methodology. Fundamental to project success is the active involvement of the business community.
Ongoing maintenance of the BI and/or data warehouse system which entails execution and monitoring of all ETL, auditory and front-end processes, database management, scheduling, report /presentation management, error handling, resolution, change management and data management.
